FAQs

When is the best time to start counselling?

Any time. Maybe you have specific goals you want to achieve. Or if you just feel overwhelmed and not even sure why you are feeling “stuck”. Maybe it’s when you are having some stress at work, or in your personal life. Maybe you have some crisis with your partners, your children, your family, or in any significant relationships.
Whatever challenges life brings you, when you are ready to talk. I am here!

Who is a good candidate for counselling?

I would say whoever is willing! I believe that everyone has their own voice and story. If you are open to share, or if you want to know how to sort our your thoughts and voices, it’s time! You should be heard!!
Currently Gentle Light is welcoming anyone who is age 8 and up due to the level of communication skills with the limitation on counselling being on the virtual approach at this time. However, if you have a very expressive child, please feel free to reach out for further discussion.

Is it covered by insurance?

Most extended health benefits cover Social Work Services. Jocelyn is registered with The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. An invoice will be provided after each session. If you are not sure, please review your benefits policy or contact your insurance company. Unfortunately, we do not do direct billing at this time. Our services are exempt from HST in Ontario.

Is it tax deductible?

Yes, it is.

As of September 26, 2012, Social Workers are now approved for the medical expense tax credit. This means that Social Workers are now authorized "medical practitioners" for the purpose of claiming medical expenses on income tax returns.
